OUR YEAR OF GOD’S KINGDOM
Happy New Year!!!
I have great joy and honour to welcome you to your year of progress and distinction.
The theme for the year is ‘Our Year of God’s Kingdom’ (Matthew 6:10).
The Kingdom of God is the rule of God in our lives and our nation. The Lord Jesus taught us to pray for the kingdom of God to come to earth and pray that God’s will be done without hindrance on earth. At the second coming of Jesus Christ, He will ultimately accomplish the prophecy “The tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them” and that “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ.” (Rev.21:2-3, 11:15).
The kingdoms of this world have always failed. We have seen kingdoms upon kingdoms collapse, no matter how long they remained. We are also seeing government upon government falling and failing the people.
All we see and experience are disappointments from human governments.
No man or government lasts forever. The only kingdom that can not be removed or expire is the kingdom of God and of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 12:28). Hence, our passion to see this kingdom firmly established in our world.
GOALS OF THE THEME OF THE YEAR
With the theme revealed to us as a church this year, God wants to understand the following truths:
1. Recognise Jesus Christ as the King of kings who lives forever.
2. He extended His heavenly kingdom to the earth through the coming gospel of Jesus Christ.
3. He has invited us into that kingdom as co-kings and priests.
4. God desires our mindset to be changed to become Kingdom-oriented as we live in the world.
5. God desires us to rethink or re-imagine our identity as citizens of His Kingdom
6. For us to prepare to be ambassadors of Jesus’ Kingdom everywhere we go.
7. The kingdoms of this world shall finally become the Kingdom of God and of his Christ. Revelation 11:15.
Our desire and sincere prayer is that the kingdom of God will be established in our lives, families, and country, Nigeria.
